Change is Good at StateWide Ford

CHANGE: We’ve all heard the expression, “The only constant is change.” It’s not just a clever turn of phrase, it’s a fact. People hear it, tilt their heads, and say to themselves, “Yep, that’s true.” Change is so common and yet we often fear it and try to avoid it. If it is always present, perhaps we should embrace it and decide that Change Is Good.

Some of you may already know about a change that started January 1 of this year. As of that day Brad Greve became half owner of StateWide Ford Lincoln. I sold half of the dealership to Brad and our plan is for him to purchase this over the following 10 years. At the end of ten years he will purchase the remaining stock and become 100% owner.

Though it sounds like a long way off now, the time will fly by and it will be 2027 soon. I will retire from StateWide and the car business following a 36 month “soft landing.” For me that will finish a 45-year career in the car business. I started in 1982 as a car salesman at Warnock Dodge and moved to Van Wert in 1993 to purchase the former Bob Dunn Ford. It’s been quite a ride and I’ve enjoyed every mile.

Brad was born and raised in Van Wert and had the car business in his blood from birth. His Mom and Dad founded Greve Chrysler Dodge and his grandfather founded Lee Kinstle GM Sales & Service. That means Brad will be a third generation auto dealer. I know he is proud of his heritage and excited about his future responsibilities of serving Van Wert and Northwest Ohio with sales & service of new and used vehicles. If you see Brad at StateWide or around town, be sure to congratulate him!
