Ever since the Halo game series debuted in 2001, there have been countless conversations among fans about how cool it would be if any of the vehicles you can traverse the planet Reach upon were real. While we’re still not exactly at that technological point, Ford has come up with a comparable solution- the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat.
Ford, Xbox, 343 Industries and Galpin Auto Sports have teamed up to make the one-of-a-kind vehicle a reality, designed in accordance with Halo’s United Nations Space Command (UNSC) aesthetics. In fact, the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat has been designated the codename M552 by the UNSC, which sticks pretty close to Ford’s P552 codename for the vehicle. Of course beneath the paint and the inspiration lies a classic Ford F-150, the same you’d find at our Ford dealership serving Ford Wayne.
What Is It?
Like we said, the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat is a Ford F-150 Lariat SuperCrew 4×4 with 3.5-liter EcoBoost® engine and FX4 off-road package, as our Fort Wayne Ford fans know. In order to get from P552 to M552, Galpin Auto Sports took the vehicle and added an Addictive Desert Designs’ Baja XTR off-road conversion kit with FOX Racing shocks, Deaver leaf springs, a Currie full floater rear axle, ADD fenders, side steps, a chase rack and 17” wheels with off-road tires and, most noticeably at first glance, a full custom Halo UNSC body wrap.
Oh, and then to top off all that, there’s an Xbox One custom system fully hooked up and ready to go on the interior. Of course the system and the screens to play Halo on are in the rear head restrains, so you’ll just have to find somewhere to park and play! Go see the Ford F-150 Halo Sandcat in the South Hall entrance of the Los Angeles Convention Center during E3 and sporadically on display until Halo 5: Guardians is out on October 27.
You can also contact our Ford dealership if you’re looking to check out a brand new Ford F-150. It’s not quite the Halo Sandcat, but we think you’ll be equally pleased!
