Superior Collision Service and Repair Technicians are Ford Trained to Better Serve your 2015 F-150!

F150Every Service and Repair Technician at Superior Collision has completed Ford training courses on how to perform collision repairs on the all-new 2015 aluminum F-150 pickup.

The training courses were comprised of instructors from I-CAR (the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair), a nonprofit organization in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, that trains and certifies repair technicians. Jason Bartanen, I-CAR director of industry technical relations, calls it one of the biggest technical training programs of its kind ever!

“Because of the magnitude and volume of this vehicle, I think we’re going to see a fantastic response to this course,” Bartanen said.

Ford’s shift from steel to aluminum on its biggest-selling vehicle is an enormous industrial undertaking and affects everyone from the factory floor to the collision repair shop. Superior Collision wants to ensure that our Service and Repair Technicians know what they’re doing the first time a damaged aluminum pickup rolls into our shop. We want all of our customers (both current and future) to be aware of the vast knowledge on the new aluminum F-150 we have acquired through the Ford training courses, so you know that your pickup is in good hands! Below is a break down of the training courses, which were divided into two segments. If you need service or repair done to your F-150, click here to schedule your appointment!

Course Overview

Segment 1: Taught general aluminum repair techniques, including aluminum welding and the operation of rivet guns.

Segment 2: Concentrated on particular design elements of the 2015 F-150 itself.

Among the training requirements, our Service and Repair Technicians underwent a weld test in which they were asked to perform six welds from two positions. I-CAR welding experts have also visited Superior Collision to ensure that we have acquired the proper aluminum-handling equipment and that it is installed properly.

Along with the training course, Superior Collision has also purchased new tools, including specialized rivet guns, MIG (metal inert gas) welders and specialized vacuum systems, in order to perform service and repairs at the optimum level. We also have set up a separate area within our Superior Collision center that is specific to working on aluminum due to steel-aluminum contamination issues.
