“Really Busy Weekend!”

I know, I know we all have busy lives and busy weekends. However, it seems like once a year or so the schedule gets super-filled with commitments and activities and it is one of those “Really Busy Weekends.” September 14th is one of those and you should put some of these worthwhile events on your calendar, too.

#1) Saturday, Sept. 14 is StateWide’s 20th Anniversary and will be sponsoring with the YMCA a 5k Run/Walk Event to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer Awareness. Held at Van Wert High School Track Facility the 5K Run/Walk starts at 9:00AM, but you can get there as early as 7:30 AM for Race Packet Pick-Up. Also, Day of Race registration is available for those who discover they can participate at the last minute. I always like to get there early so I can get mentally prepared and to enjoy the company of the other participants. So come on out to the Van Wert High School Track Facility for a good time and a good cause the morning of September 14. Pre-register at the YMCA or online at http://www.vwymca.org/?page_id=3336
Susan G. Komen Foundation is dedicated to education and research about causes, treatment, and the search for a cure for Breast Cancer. My Mom was a breast cancer survivor and died just last year of a brain tumor that was probably caused by recurrent breast cancer. My cousin, the mother of two young children, passed away last year in her 40’s due to breast cancer. I am sure many, if not all, of you have similar stories about close friends and relatives. Not only is this cause close to my heart, I know it has affected many of your lives. Come out and be part of the solution.
#2) On the very same day, Sept. 14, from 9AM till 3PM, StateWide will be holding the “Drive 1 4 UR Community” test-drive event at Van Wert High School. It is a program that Ford started a couple years ago to benefit local communities by donating $20.00 per legitimate test-drive to a worthy local charity or organization. The proceeds from the Sept. 14 test-drives will go to the Van Wert Rotary and the Van Wert Red Cross. Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve driven a Ford or maybe you want to try out one of the latest models before you trade-in your old Ford. Either way, if you test-drive a new Ford product at Van Wert High School on Sept. 14, not only will you learn about the amazing new cars and trucks but you’ll also benefit the community you live in through the donation Ford will give. Now that is a win-win proposition.
#3) If that is not enough special goodness for one day, then get out to the Van Wert County Health Aware Fair on Sept. 14 from 8AM till Noon at Van Wert High School. Hosted by the Van Wert County Rotary, the Red Cross, and Van Wert Hospital the Health Aware Fair is chock full of information to make your life and health better. There’ll be Free Health Screenings for blood pressure, bone density, flexibility testing, and more; Free Well-Being Treatments like chair massage, healthy food samples, and more; Free Fitness Classes such as zumba, chair yoga, kit fit, and more; Free Prizes; Reduced Cost blood profiles, flu shots, and more. For more information visit http://www.vanwerthospital.org/healthawarefair
PHEW! Anybody else worn out yet? I told you it was going to be a “Really Busy Weekend!” It is all to benefit you and to improve your lives right here in Van Wert. So get out and participate September 14th at Van Wert High School.
